ABonAir's AB420™ wireless broadcast system enables camera teams to transmit broadcast sessions directly from cameras to media centers or director-monitors over the air, without the restrictions of cable connections. AB420 includes integrated Camera Control Units (CCU or RCP) and Tally Light to perfectly support multi-camera broadcast sessions. The system allows video transmission of up to 2.5 km. The system’s lightweight transmitter is easily attached to any professional camera.

ABonAir's AB420 utilizes full MIMO radio architecture and employs two antennas at both the transmitter and receiver to enhance transmission performance and ensure improved coverage even in the most radio-challenging environments. AB420 MIMO (Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output) radio and modem architecture allows simultaneous transmission of two data streams via two radio transceivers. Combining signals into one signal in the Receiver produces better coverage and link stability.

AB420 system supports integrated Intercom for communication between the cameraman and the director on the same RF channel as the video content. It does not require any additional RF channel allocation for the Intercom or other equipment support. In addition another IFB (Interrupted Feedback Broadcast) is available in the system for Talent communication.

AB420 system can connect to Fiber Coverage Extender (FCE) to provide flexible antenna deployment through fiber optic cables. The system has either portable receiver or 1U receiver to fit into 19” rack.

Built on a bi-directional data channel between transmitter and receiver, ABonAir's systems acknowledge the correct acceptance of each packet of pixels and enables robust content transmission. In uni-directional links, the transmitter sends video content to the receiver without receiving any feedback. In bi-directional links, both transmitter and receiver can send and receive data and control information: a packet acknowledgment mechanism identifies errors and quickly fixes them (by re-transmitting the corrupted data), before the frame is presented. This enables bi-directional solutions to assure that all the data is well received without errors hence increase picture quality.
